Dapur Mama Original Nasi Kukus has been nurtured with passion and perseverance by Puan Zalini Mohamed with her vast experience since 1994. For 3 decades Puan Zalini and now, her children continue this fine tradition of serving authentic Nasi Kukus Ayam Berempah which has now been modernised for all Malaysians and the world.
The Untold Story
“Jom derahh balik,kito nok tolong mok siap siap nego pulokk nihhh..!”
The same dialog that was thrown by the siblings throughout their childhood time growing up helping their late mother who they called ‘Mok’ do business around Kota Bharu, Kelantan to support their life and daily expenses.
With a variety of food including the special Nasi Kukus, the recipe has been passed down to ‘Mama’ and her siblings with the aspiration that the Original Nasi Kukus recipe would change their life for the better.
2010 marked a milestone in their journey as the first Gerai Nasi Kukus ‘Mama’ was opened by taking up a space within Casper Restaurant, Indera Mahkota.
Struggling in the early days of doing business with not more than 20 customers per day, Mama didn’t give up and continued with her children’s help. They soon attracted more customers, mostly students from nearby universities.
In 2023, Dapur Mama Original Nasi Kukus is now a franchise with 5 branches in Kuantan, Indera Mahkota, Bangi, Taman Melawati and Gebeng. The signature Nasi Kukus Ayam Berempah Mama continues to spread in popularity with visitors getting their fix from all over Malaysia.
